Canada 🇨🇦 Day 2020

Wednesday July 1st 2020

Well let me start by saying I really don’t like this day of celebration. Oh please understand I am a proud Canadian and rest reassured I like days off, long weekends and the such, but what I don’t like are summer celebrations on Wednesday’s. Like seriously can’t some one move this celebration to a weekend?

Now you might ask why don’t you want to celebrate Canada Day on Wednesday well it’s because this year especially, and whoa what a year it has been so far and it’s looking like it could be a very long year. No this year we need to celebrate being Canadian for at least the whole month of July if not the remainder of the whole darn year.

Like seriously Canada is right about now is pretty much the only place that I want to be. With the world still caught in the grips of a pandemic and the infection rate on the rise, it’s good to know that our leaders like them or not have just for the most part put politics aside and worked shoulder to shoulder to battle this virus. And that makes me very proud to be a Canadian, and in reality it just one of many.

Canada is a country in the northern part of North America. Its ten provinces and three territories extend from the Atlantic to the Pacific and northward into the Arctic Ocean, covering 9.98 million square kilometres (3.85 million square miles), making it the world’s second-largest country by area. Its southern and western border with the United States, stretching 8,891 kilometres (5,525 mi), is the world’s longest bi-national land border. Canada’s capital is Ottawa, and its three largest metropolitan areas are Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. As pulled from Wikipedia … but in truth we live in an amazing country, in fact I will go on record as saying the best.

Oh we may not have white beaches like the Florida panhandle, but we have crystal clear lake like no where else in the world infact Canada has more than 31,750 lakes. All that is really missing is that January warmth that the southern states can offer, we have no shortage of warmth and humidity during the summertime. Canadians are as talented as anybody, with many inventions, medical discoveries, actors, musicians, pretty much every thing possible. We are in most cases modest, courteous, compassionate, fun loving, hardworking, but usually a little less intense that our friends to the south.

As a very dear friend used to always say “it’s a great day to be a Canadian” and truer words have never been spoken, but to take Gunner’s saying one step further every day is a great day to be Canadian!

So while we celebrate being part of the best country in the world, on this Wednesday, let’s act maybe just a little more proud of being Canadian and be a little more patriotic, show our colours and our pride and be thankful for being where we are safe and sound here in CANADA … just saying.
