Happy 2024!

My last stroll through the arboretum of 2023!

Well tonight we get to say goodbye to 2023, and I for one will not feel bad about seeing it just melt away. We went for a stroll in the Arboretum this afternoon after the gates closed a couple of hours earlier then normal to allow staff to celebrate. I’m pretty sure we will not see the start of the New Year tonight, in fact we most likely will not even get to see the ball drop at Time Square in New York which will happen at ten o’clock our time here in Arizona.

Oh I can remember when I was much younger and I thought New Years celebrations were oh so very important and involved, dinners, dancing, drinking, and more eating & drinking after the stroke of midnight, when the next year rolled in. But as the years went by I began to realize that it was just an over priced evening that usually was followed by a very bad hangover and the loss of a day or two of regular life because of it. I can’t remember just how many hangovers it took me to figure it all out, but I vaguely remember being a bit of a slow learner. Now I understand that there was an easy cure to those terrible New Years Day hangovers, and it was as simple as not drinking so damn much the night before.

So it’s New Years, the time when everyone makes all sorts of resolutions that we know that they will never be able to accomplish, and in most cases they don’t survive the first thirty days of the new year. My answer to the whole resolution thing is not to make any resolutions, therefore I won’t have to worry about breaking any of them.

So what does 2024 have in store for The Buchanan’s?

Well we have already planned some vacation time in Las Vegas for December and we also know we are heading back to Ontario for the summer.

One other thing I know will happen in 2024, is that this will be a year of catching up with friends and family, the one thing that I think we regretted the most from last year.

We also need to just slow down in so many aspects of our life, so a slower travel schedule, a few more rounds of golf, try to play some more pickle ball, try to enjoy some more beach days, watch some more movies, explore more of Ontario more this summer.

We hope that 2024 will be kind to everyone, and as we start into the new year we planned to move Thunder to some different locations to enable us to spend more time with some of our RV family members.

Happy New Year to all our friends & family!
