It’s been a minute since I last put together a fresh blog, oh there have been some attempts, some were better than others and quite a few were just plain pathetic. So today is the 22nd of December, a Monday for you retired folks out there, today was our shopping for supplies day, this has to be one of the most difficult tasks here on the Baja of Mexico. The language barrier doesn’t really exist at most stores, but it does on the packaging of most items. So with Google translate in hand along with my currency exchange app shopping is an adventure. Common American brands are more expensive than the Mexican brands and right now beef is a stupid price every where.
Today we discovered different bodegas locating a bakery with better pricing than the Saturday market at the resort, a cheese shop that actually carries cheddar cheese which is difficult to find in Mexico not that Mexican cheese is not good it boils down to personal preference. We also found another supermarket that appears to be affiliated with the blue sign store, but other than a logo the packaging is all in Mexican.
We landed at our winter home back on the 15th of November, we have a full hookup site with a windshield view of the Sea of Cortez. It is actually a building lot that has not started the construction of a house, I suspect it was purchased on speculation or the owner decided not to build, so to help pay the expenses has developed two RV sites with hookup that they rent out. We are on the north side of the lot and there is a fifth wheel rig on the south side that is being rented out presently. The lot was for sale and has since been purchased by a camper that is staying on another site, they are hoping to take possession in March of next year and use one site for their winter home and rent the second side for extra income to offset their investment.
This rental price for our lot is 10,000 Mexican Pesos $765 Canadian per month which is a little pricey until you consider the amenities that the resort offers gated community, swimming pools, tennis courts, pickle ball courts, sand beach on the Sea of Cortez, restaurants, a golf course, and numerous activities throughout the facility from potlucks, dominoes, poker nights, two movie nights per week, and last week we discovered a corn hole group that play at local bar’s & restaurants. Now there could be a bit of money involved with the corn hole as it is a tournament with a 50 peso buy-in. Last week Miss Laure and her partner won top prize of 300 pesos and I won third prize of 50 pesos.

Miss Laurie has taken some pickle ball lessons, I have been playing water volleyball, we have walked, sat on the beach, and swam in the pool enjoying the hot tub and Miss Laurie is collecting shells at the beach, while I have been reading instead of writing, but we will see if I can put together a few more blogs.
